OSAWATOMIE — All but one bidder for Osawatomie’s Streetscape project came in under the engineer’s estimate. City manager Bret Glendening told the Osawatomie Journal he was pleased with the number of low bids. The lowest bid came from Heartland Contractors of Kansas City and was almost $98,000 below the engineer’s estimate. Because the Kansas Department of Transportation provided a grant to cover most of the costs of the project, the state has to approve the bids. The city council will award the project January 14. The Streetscape project will redo sidewalks, parking and landscaping along Main Street between Fifth and Sixth streets downtown.
