OVERBROOK — A boil order for the city of Overbrook remains in effect this morning.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the boil order Wednesday because of a break in a water main which caused the city’s water tower to drain, resulting in a loss of pressure in the water system. The KDHE said Overbrook residents may be without water for an extended period of time. The KDHE said you should boil water vigorously for at least one minute but not longer than three minutes. Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices, and food preparation. To wash dishes and other food contact surfaces, use clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water. You don’t need to use boiled water to bathe.
