OTTAWA – Ottawa firefighters fought a house in the 400 block of West Fifth Street Tuesday morning. Assistant fire chief Richard Oglesby said a contractor was working on the house and was using a torch to thaw a foundation when the vinyl siding caught fire. The fire moved into the wall before it was stopped, Oglesby said. Although there were initial reports of someone being overcome by smoke, Oglesby said he had no report of injuries. There wasn’t an immediate estimate of damage.
