LYNDON — The trial of the man who is charged with capital murder in the slayings of four family members in Burlingame will begin Aug. 8 in Osage County District Court in Lyndon. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that District Judge Philip Fromme will likely agree to a request by James Kraig Kahler’s attorneys to hear testimony from a woman who was having a relationship with his wife. His attorneys said the testimony will show the woman, Sunny Reese, was a “serial home wrecker,” and that the relationship caused Kahler to have a mental breakdown as a result of the relationship, contributing to the murders of his wife, two daughters and his wife’s grandmother in Burlingame during the Thanksgiving weekend of 2009. However, Fromme denied a defense motion to pick a new list of potential jurors because there are no minority members among the pool of potential jurors.
