OTTAWA — Extreme Makeover has an extreme need for stucco and stone installers today at the building site. Skilled volunteers are asked to show up and bring their tools to the build site on Old 50 southwest of Ottawa this morning. Harold Wingert, one of the local coordinators at the building site, said he’s looking for volunteers who are experienced in stucco work and stonemasonry. There’s still a need for framers as framing work will continue through the day, he said. The roof will be put on later today or this evening, he said. Despite Tueday’s extreme temperatures, volunteers, builders and subcontractors haven’t let the record-breaking high temperatures slow them down and work remains largely on schedule, he said. Olathe Medical Center has a medical tent to help cool workers and Nuwa has provided six Hitchhiker RVs with air conditioning. Today’s construction will include the installation of tile, cabinets and vanities, the TV show’s producers said. The Allen Hill family’s new home will also receive its exterior paint and interior primer. Finally, the interior is scheduled to be dehumidified and the interior doors will be hung.
