OSAWATOMIE — The John Brown Historic Site at Osawatomie has been ranked fifth in the top 10 of the U.S.’s best western museums by True West magazine. The rankings are published in this month’s issue of True West. The magazine gives the museum high marks for its John Brown Freedom Festival and its commitment to living-history presentations by community volunteers as a way to interest people in history. The ranking puts the John Brown museum in the big leagues of museums including the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave in Colorado, the Autry historic site in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, and the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City.
