OSAWATOMIE — A long-distance friendship drew a visitor from South Korea for a close-up look at Osawatomie. Joo-Young Oh arrived recently in Osawatomie to visit Will Cutburth and his family. The Osawatomie Journal reported that the two met about 10 years ago at Camp Carroll in Couth Korea, where they were both military policemen. They served together under a special program in which Korean Army soliders are paired with American soldiers. Indeed, Joo-Young Oh helped Cuthbert bring his financee and now wife to South Korea and propose marriage. The Korean is a journalist. Since arriving in Kansas, he’s visited area schools and Osawatomie businesses, and saw a Kansas City Royals baseball game at Kaufman Stadium.
