OTTAWA — Franklin County’s effort to overhaul its radio communications network to narrow-band frequencies has hit a snag. County emergency management director Alan Radcliffe told Franklin County commissioners Monday when the county presented its plan to the Federal Communications Commission for review, a Johnson County agency protested the proposed frequency for the Franklin County EMS, saying the EMS’ proposed frequency was too close to its own. The county will propose a new frequency for the EMS and resubmit it to the FCC, he said. Before the delay, the county had planned to have the change done this month but that will change to the end of Februrary or first part of March. The federal government has ordered the county to change its radio frequencies.
