PITTSBURG — Normally, thieves try to be quiet, but it was that quiet that got one Cherokee County man in trouble. Federal authorities said Jeffrey Blake, 39, Scammon; decided to steal copper wiring from a transmission tower near Pittsburg in September. When he cut the wire, he knocked Pittsburg radio station KKOW off the air. He also damaged equipment belonging to Heartland Rural Electric Company of Girard.
U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Blake faces a federal charge of attempted damage to a communications system and another count of attempted damage to an energy facility.
