WELLSVILLE — A 32-year-old Ottawa man was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital after he collided with another Ottawa man on I-35 Monday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Eric McCurdy and 48-year-old Jerry Torneden of Ottawa were both driving south in the left-hand lane near the Franklin/Miami county line. The Highway Patrol said McCurdy was driving closely behind Tornedon, who started moving to the right lane. However, troopers said McCurdy clipped the rear of Tornedon’s car, causing him to lose control. Tornedon’s car collided with McCurdy’s SUV, causing both vehicles to enter the median. Tornedon regained control and drove back out of the median, but McCurdy’s SUV rolled, ending up in the northbound lanes upside down. Tornedon wasn’t injured.
