OTTAWA — The Franklin County Commission agreed to use part of next Monday’s work session to talk about a Williamsburg couple’s request for a change to the county’s building codes. Because of its deteriorated condition and black mold, Phil and Patricia Piersol have moved out of their century-old farm house and plan to replace it with a modular home in the 900 block of Finney Road. Although the Piersols attended the Wednesday county meeting, Gene Hirt, Williamsburg, spoke on their behalf, telling commissioners that the modular home they plan to buy is too old under county regulations. However, their modular home would be an improvement over the house that’s there, he said. The couple requests an extended time at a work session or regular meeting to discuss why the county rules should be modified or an exception granted, he said.
