OLATHE – The Kansas Highway Patrol is asking for help in finding a semi-truck involved in a crash on I-35 that seriously injured Nikki McClure, 33, Gardner, Wednesday morning. The highway patrol said McClure and the truck were going north on I-35 near the weigh station north of Gardner. The highway patrol said McClure was going at highway speed and the truck was going much slower when McClure ran into the back of the trailer. Her car went off the road and ended up against a highway fence. McClure, who was pregnant, was trapped in her car. KCTV Channel 5 reported that she underwent surgery and delivered her baby girl a month early. Channel 5 said the baby is healthy and doing well. The truck kept on going after the accident. Some witnesses reported that the hood from McClure’s car was imbedded in the back of the trailer, troopers said. KHP Lt. Tom Catania said the trucker may nothave known that the accident occurred. Witnesses say that the truck may have ice built up on it and Catania said the trailer should have significant damage to the rear end protection system. You can call him at (913) 782-8100.
