OTTAWA — After being closed two months because of county budget cuts, the Old Depot Museum will reopen 1-4 p.m. Sunday for the Franklin County Historical Society’s 75th birthday party. Homemade birthday cake, George P. Washburn’s architecture, model trains and presentation of the caboose soon to be moved to the Old Depot Museum, and playing old-fashioned school will be among the activities, said Deborah Barker, Franklin County Historical Society executive director. The event is open and free to the public. Barker will take visitors on a lightning tour of her “Five Favorite Things” on display in the museum, and tell their stories The event will also give visitors an appreciation of the things that go on behind the museum and exhibits, including the society’s photograph collections visible on computer, restoration efforts and the Franklin County’s on-line history portal.
