While the election was held nearly a week ago, some races won’t be decided until the County Commissioners and the County Clerk meet Monday morning for the County Canvass. The Canvass is the official tally of votes for the election. Clerk Janet Paddock says many races in smaller cities will be decided Monday:
The purpose of the Canvass is to account for every Ballot cast and ensure every valid vote cast is included in the Election Totals. The Canvass accounts for every Ballot cast on Election Day, every on-time Absentee Ballot, every accepted Provisional Ballot and every write in vote. It will be held Monday morning at 9:00 t the Courthouse in the Old Courtroom on the second floor. The public is welcome to attend.
