A utility payment scam is hitting some people in Ottawa. The City of Ottawa says some utility customers have received a phone call from a 418 area code, stating their utility account is overdue and subject to dosconnection. City of Ottawa officials want everyone to know they do not make phone call to citizens to collect overdue or late payments. You will only be contacted via email or by the postal service. They ask that you do not give out any personal information to anyone attempting this scam. If you have been affected by the scam, notify your credit card companies and your bank immediately.
