Senator Caryn Tyson says usually there’s not much to write about when the Kansas Legislature is not in Session, but that’s not the case this year. In her Legislative Update this week, she says for the first time in Kansas history, 2/3 of the Legislators signed a Petition to force the Governor to call a Special Session. All the Kansas Republicans signed the Petition.
The Session, that will begin Monday, will deal with the Federal Government Overreach on COVID 19 Vaccine Mandates. Tyson says a Special Committee on Government Overreach and the impact of COVID 19 Mandates is working on two pieces of Legislation for the Special Session. One Bill would make it clear that a person who loses their job because they refuse to comply with the Biden Administration’s Unconstitutional Mandates, may receive Unemployment. The other Bill would strengthen the language in Kansas Law regarding religious and medical exemptions so that these exemptions would be granted to Kansans who seek them.
Speaker Pro Tem of the Kansas House, Blaine Finch, will be our guest on this Week’s Community Perspective to talk about the Special Session and the impact it could have on Kansans.
