Local and regional health officials are sounding the alarm as COVID 19 cases rise in the area. Chief Medical Officer at KU Med, Dr. Steven Stites, voiced his concerns about the rising cases and the recent spread of the omicron variant:
The Franklin County Health Department reported 127 new cases of COVID 19 last week. At least one of those is the omicron variant, at the time, the first in the State of Kansas. With 173 active cases, that makes the highest number of cases in Franklin County since December 11th a year ago, after dropping to a low of one case in late June.
