The Miami County Cancer Foundation has received some much needed supplies to help community members in their fight against cancer. In the past, the Paola Police Department has sponsored a Community-wide collection of Boost and Ensure nutritional drinks the foundation provides to cancer patients. This year they sent a challenge out County-wide, challenging the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Louisburg and Osawatomie Police Departments to collect the drinks also. The foundations spend a lot of money every year buying the nutrition drinks as well as gas cards, rides to treatments and other items and President of the Miami County Cancer Foundation, Jodie Livengood, says they were running very low on the drinks.
The County-wide challenge was heard loud and clear and County law enforcement agencies donated more boxes of the drinks than ever collected before. Representatives from the various agencies delivered the drinks to the Cancer Foundation Office in Paola earlier this month.
