The Miami County Health Department is seeing a huge uptick in people wanting COVID testing. So many that the schedule filled completely leading up to the Christmas holiday. The demand continues as more and more people want to know if what they are experiencing is just a common cold or COVID. Symptoms are very similar, especially with the new strains of the virus. Give them a call to schedule a test or if you need to test sooner than their availability, there are several options within the Community and surrounding area that offer testing. They have posted a list of COVID testing sites in the County. They include Vohs Pharmacy and Auburn Pharmacy in Louisburg; The Paola VA Clinic, Olathe Medical In Paola, and the Olathe Health Family Medicine Clinics in Louisburg, Paola and Osawatomie.
Health officials are urging people to get tested and quarantine, if necessary; but, the big push right now is to get vaccinated, as it greatly reduces the chances of becoming seriously ill and being hospitalized.
