The Kansas Highway Patrol has released its report on Christmas holidy weekend period. The Patrol reports they worked two non-DUI related fatality crashes with two non DUI deaths. There have been no DUI related fatality accidents during the Christmas holiday period in the state since 2018. DUI arrests were down slightly from last year with 15, compared to 18 last year, but still up sharply compared to 2019, when there were only 6.
Speeding Citations and warnings were also down significantly from last year, from 613 to 491.
Another area of focus was also improved. Seat Belt citations and warnings were also down by nearly a third over last year.
The KHP reports nearly 600 motorist assists during the holiday period that ran from December 23rd through December 26th.
