The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the entire KOFO listening area… Franklin, Anderson, Douglas, Osage, Miami and Linn Counties, in effect from late tomorrow night through Saturday evening.
Widespread wintery precipitation is expected with snowfall accumulations from two to eight inches and ice accumulations around a tenth of an inch. Plan on slippery road conditions. Travel could become very difficult with patchy blowing snow that will reduce visibility significantly. With winds up to 35 miles per hour, wind chill is going to be a big problem. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero are expected and could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 minutes. The very cold wind chills, Saturday and Saturday night, could be dangerous for vulnerable populations and those that may become stranded in their vehicles.
