Everybody goes through some critical incidents in their life. Dealing with sickness, injury, even death. A normal person has about eight critical incidents in their life; however, first responders usually go through 200 or more such incidents in their careers. That can take a toll on a person. Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards says his department hold a Critical Incident Debriefing after every such incident:
A Critical Incident includes things like serious traffic accidents, fatality accidents and incidents involving serious injuries with adults or children. Any first responder on the call, whether it be law enforcement, EMS or fire, go through the Debriefs.
