The past year and a half has been very rough on everyone as we deal with the pandemic. Our children seem to be taking the brunt of it and mental health needs among youth have skyrocketed the past 18 months. Ottawa is very fortunate to have a mental health center right here in town. Director of Children Services at the Elizabeth Layton Center, Amy Wacker, says adults have been affected too, which compounds the issue for kids:
Wacker adds that people don’t need to be afraid to seek professional help in dealing with mental health issues. The Elizabeth Layton Center has a variety of treatment options and, if cost is an issue, ask about their Scholarship Program.
