Douglas County has implemented an Emergency Mask Mandate to help protect the Community and healthcare system from the spread of COVID 19. The Health Order takes affect Friday. The Douglas County Commission will discuss extending the order at their meeting on Wednesday. The Mask Mandate requires face coverings for those ages 2 and older, inside public spaces. COVID 19 cases have spread rapidly the last week. As of Monday, there were nearly 1,600 active cases, with 89 new cases a day, a record high for Douglas County.
The order was issued by local health officer, Thomas Marcellino and the Douglas County Commission and states everyone should wear a mask when inside or in line to enter any indoor public space, obtaining healthcare services, waiting for or riding on public transportation or while outdoors and unable to maintain a six foot distance between individuals who do not reside together. All businesses or organizations in Douglas County must require employees, customers, visitors, members of the public to wear a mask or face covering when: working in any public space, working where food is prepared or packaged or in ant enclosed area where people are present and unable to maintain a six foot distance.
