The Kansas Highway Patrol has released its New Year’s Weekend Holiday Activity Report. The reporting period for the holiday ran from 6:00 in the evening on December 30th, through midnight Sunday, January 2nd. The Highway Patrol reports they worked three fatal crashes, resulting in three fatalities during the reporting period. However, none of these were alcohol related, making it the fourth year in a row no DUI related traffic fatalities have occurred. DUI arrests were way down compared to last year, only 11, when there were 26 last year. Also down, speeding citations and warnings, as well as seat belt citations and warnings.
