The news on the chances of rehabilitating Old 50 Highway seems to keep getting better. Franklin County Public Works Director, David Lee, says they can work with some of the existing roadway:
Lee says the one section that might be too weak is west of Homewood. The County Commission has been considering how to widen Old 50 for several years. With the increase in housing to the south on the highway, the need for a wider, safer road has been raised, not only by residents in the area, but also law enforcement officials. There is no timeline on when construction to widen the road might start.
