The Central Heights School District will be the first in the area to close due to COVID cases. USD 288 officials announced yesterday that, due to an increase in COVID 19 cases, high absenteeism and staff shortages, the District will not have school tomorrow, Monday or Tuesday. School will resume on Wednesday. They say they understand the challenge of finding child care on short notice, but the situation has reached the point they can’t find enough substitute teachers to keep school in session. Also, they told parents of children in the district that if their child was feeling ill or if they were uncomfortable sending them to school today, they understand and please keep them home.
Officials are hopeful that a three day break will allow more people to recover from COVID and not be contagious when school resumes on Wednesday.
