In his monthly Mid-America Business Conditions Index Survey, Creighton University Economics Professor, Ernie Goss, says the overall index for December climbed from November and was very strong, which indicates positive growth for manufacturers. However, supply chain bottlenecks, labor shortages and inflation will lead to slower economic growth as we enter 2022. What about hiring?
Inflation was significantly down from November. Even though inflation is expected to cool in the first quarter of 2022, Goss says inflationary pressures will remain.
