Following the Central Heights School District’s lead, several other schools in the area have decided not to have school today, due to an increased case load of COVID, high absenteeism and staff shortages. Central will be out today, Monday and Tuesday, resume class on Wednesday. West Franklin, 288 and Osawatomie 367 will also be closed through Tuesday. Wellsville Will reopen Tuesday. Other schools closed today include Prairie View, 352, Eudora 491 and Lawrence 497. The closures come as COVID cases skyrocket throughout the State and the Nation.
School officials are hopeful that a long weekend will allow for more people both students and staff to recover from COVID and not be contagious when school resumes. They are urging families to do all they can to help mitigate the spread of the virus this weekend by staying home, following all the COVID Safety Protocol and hygiene measures they have come to know during the pandemic.
