As the winter weather rolls into our area, getting to and from your destination safely is key. Here are some winter driving safety tips for you. First, make sure your vehicle is winter ready… check the fluids, tires and heating system. Fill your gas tank and pack a winter emergency kit. While driving, don’t use cruise control. If you begin to slide, look first, then steer into the skid. Keep an eye on the weather and if you don’t have to drive, stay home. Allow for more time to get where you’re going and increase the distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
Be sure not to crowd snowplows or travel beside them. Most importantly, if you’ve had anything to drink, don’t get behind the wheel and , just as important, buckle up, every trip, every time.
Of course, if you don’t have to be on the road, don’t be. Be safe anytime you are on the road.
