The annual celebration of Civil Rights Leader, Martin Luther King, Jr. is Monday, but the City of Ottawa and Ottawa University are celebrating a day early. Because of the COVID surge, most activities will go virtual tomorrow. Former ECKAN CEO Richard Jackson will once again coordinate activities. Jackson says you can celebrate the holiday any day of the year:
the event will feature remarks by City Manager Richard Neinstedt, a Proclamation recognizing the Day of Honor read by Ottawa Mayor Eric Crowley and the announcement of the MLK Essay contest winners. The key note speaker will be OU E-Sports Coordinator, Sergio Brack and closing remarks by OU Campus President Dr. Reggies Wenyika. The event will be live streamed on the Ottawa University website and begin at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon.
