The Ottawa School Board has chosen a mostly traditional path when it comes to the school calendar. At its Regular Meeting, the Board voted 4 to 3 to adopt what is referred to as Calendar Two, which retains the traditional school year as it has always been known, but with a few additional days for Professional Development. School Superintendent, Dr. Ryan Cobbs, says he was aware of some Board resistance to adopt the calendar that would have inserted additional vacation days throughout the year.
There has been some discussion previously about going to year-round school, but the Board has indicated they are not even ready to seriously consider that option.
