The Ottawa Police Department was busy yesterday afternoon. About 1:30, they were dispatched to an armed disturbance in the 800 block of Olive Street. A 57 year old man from Ottawa reported a female, known to him, threatened him with a machete. The male was able to retreat out of the house and report it to police. The victim indicated the suspect had access to a handgun, a shotgun and a machete inside the residence.
Responding officers identified the suspect as 35 year old Karly Robinson, from Ottawa. Attempts to communicate with Robinson were unsuccessful and the Department’s STAR Team responded to execute a search warrant for evidence related to the assault and to arrest the suspect. At about 5:00 in the afternoon, officers entered the home and took Robinson into custody without incident. Robinson is currently being held in the Franklin County Adult Detention Center, pending formal charges.
Ottawa Police Chief ,Adam Weingartner says he is thankful for the great cooperation by all agencies involved in this incident, saying the Department focuses on de-escalation first, but when those efforts fail, they have a trained and capable team of law enforcement officers to bring such incidents to a safe conclusion.
