As the need for substitute teachers grows and some schools have been forced to shut their doors for a few days to allow staff the chance to recover, the CEO and President of Watermark Bank in Oklahoma is asking his employees to step up to keep kids in school. He is providing their employees the resources and support necessary to obtain their substitute teacher certifications. The company is encouraging all employees to dedicate two days a month as a substitute teacher to assist communities in the classroom. All employees that participate will receive full pay for the days they miss.
He says the new programs will allow kids to remain in the classroom and allow their parents to continue working for their respective employers.
Staff shortages across the Nation have forced many schools to close and the Department of Education in Kansas and other states, have lowered the requirements to become a substitute. Pollock says it is a chance to invest in the kids and the future of all communities.
