One of the Volunteer of the Year nominees for the Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet is John Helm. John has worked for the City of Garnett for over 40 years and gives back to the Community on a regular basis. You can always find him setting up and tearing down for concerts. Volunteering at local events, such as Lake Garnett Gran Prix Revival and the Chamber Christmas Parade. He volunteers his jeeps to give rides and escorts Veterans in parades. He is dedicated to the Vets in the Garnett Community.
Another nominee for Volunteer of the year is Rose and Darrin Elliss. They are members of Hope Anthem Church, organizers of “Christians Always Ready to Serve” and they are very active in the Community in organizing the Garnett Fall Festival, Halloween Hoopla, the Easter Eggstravanganza and a brand new event, Faith and Blue, that is intended to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community it serves. They remain committed to serving Anderson County in practical ways, while showing God’s love.
