COVID cases in Franklin County continue to rise sharply. The Franklin County Health Department reported yesterday that there have been 479 new cases reported to them since Friday, January 7th. That leaves the County with 650 active cases, far and away exceeding the previous high case county by 150 cases. They report 12 hospitalizations at Advent Health Ottawa and sadly, another death of a Franklin County resident due to the virus. Also, 146 breakthrough cases have been reported.
With cases still rising, health officials are urging people to take precautions against the spread of the virus. Wear masks when physical distancing is not possible, wash hands and follow all the safety measures you have come to know during the pandemic. Officials realize people are getting tired of it, but until more people are vaccinated and cases start to drop, it’s important to keep on top of it. Also, they ask if you feel sick at all, don’t go to work or school. Stay home until you are symptom free.
