Today is National Popcorn Day! The celebration is really popping! Popcorn has been known to the world for over a thousand years. Some historians say that popcorn was the first corn people knew about. Today, Americans consume over 4 billion gallons of popcorn every year and is the number one snack food. The majority is grown right here in the USA. Nebraska leads the nation in popcorn production; but, a pretty significant popcorn farm is only a few miles away. Princeton Popcorn was founded three years ago and “Farmer Bob” sells it online and locally at Price Chopper and around the world. Popcorn can be coated in all kinds of yummy flavors, from cinnamon to caramel, chocolate and many more. Just so you know, the world’s largest popcorn ball was 12 feet in diameter, took two thousand pounds of corn, five thousand pounds of sugar and 300 gallons of corn syrup!
