January 29th is the 161st Anniversary of Kansas becoming a State. The Ottawa City Commission approved a proclamation recognizing that landmark event. Franklin County Historical Society Executive Director, Diana Staresinic-Dean says people living in the 1800’s would understand what is going on today:
Staresinic-Deane says the people who survived the 1918 flu epidemic would really relate, because that event closely resembles what is happening today.
