One of the nominations for Volunteer of the Year in the Annual Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce Awards, is Burke Rogers. Burke has been a strong volunteer for the Rotary Club an Delphian Lodge Number 44 for over 35 years. He’s a tireless worker in all of both organizations events and projects. He has a “can do” attitude.
Another Volunteer of the Year Nominee are Dan and Loretta Coltrane. Helping with Harvesters the past five years, they are in charge of the entire operation, from coordinating all the volunteers to help, Setting up for distribution, collecting boxes, deciding how much goes to each family and submitting a report of the food that is delivered.
Another nominee is the Care Team at the First Christian Church. The Team assists those who are experiencing a crisis in their lives. Team members visit hospitals and nursing homes and for years have prepared May Day Baskets and Christmas Goodie Bags for all the nursing home residents in Anderson County and Richmond. Last year, they prepared over 150 bags to give out to area Veterans on Veterans Day.
The Chamber Awards Banquet will be held on Wednesday
