One nominee for the Chamber Champion Award in the Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards, is Auburn Pharmacy. Auburn says the daily tasks of a pharmacy, of filling prescriptions, giving standard vaccinations and handling Medicare counseling, was compounded by additional staff taking over COVID 19 services. As the new variants spread, Auburn continues to provide COVID services to the community and maintain normal operating hours. The staff has worked tirelessly to keep the doors open and meet the needs of the community, as well as provide as much information as possible.
For Organization of the Year, the Anderson County Fair Board. the Board consists of 10 volunteers who are striving to promote the 4-H Motto “to make the best better”. The Board works countless hours to provide 4-H events and a County Fair for the communities enjoyment. In recent years, the Fair Board has added several sets of new pens for livestock, new wash racks for hogs, sheep and goats. They also host a Tractor Pull, Demo Derby and a Ranch Rodeo, merchants tent and a Pie Baking Contest.
The winners will be announced at the Banquet Thursday night.
