U. S. Senator Jerry Moran, Lead Republican on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, spoke recently on the U. S. Senate Floor, regarding the introduction of his bipartisan “Health Care for Burn Pit Veterans Act” with Senator Jon Tester. The Legislation, which will be considered today during a Veterans Committee Business Meeting, would offer post 9/11 Combat Veterans, including those suffering from conditions caused by toxic exposures, access to Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care:
Burn pits were used to incinerate all sorts of waste, hazardous material and chemical compounds at military sites throughout Iraq and Afghanistan. Eighty six percent of post 9/11 veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan, say they were exposed to burn pits.
