The Franklin County Health Department released the latest COVID statistics yesterday. There were 255 new cases reported last week, giving the county 358 active cases, down again from the week before. As of yesterday, there are seven people hospitalized at Advent Health Ottawa for COVID related illnesses. On a sad note, they report six new deaths of County residents due to the virus. A total of 78 Franklin Countians have lost their lives to COVID since the pandemic began, just over two years ago.
Cases around the Nation continue to drop. Officials point to vaccines as one cause. However, some health organizations say that the rise in usage of home test kits has led to many people testing positive and not reporting it to their local health department.
People in the health profession are urging people to continue to take precautions until more people get the vaccine and develop antibodies to the virus.
