The COVID pandemic really set back the court system in regards to holding jury trials. While some court appearances were held via zoom conferences, the Kansas court System didn’t feel it was safe to pack a room for jury trials, so each district had to come up with a plan to allow safe distancing. Franklin County Attorney, Brandon Jones, says the County recently held a trial in the County’s approved location:
He adds that the trial went off without a hitch. They are making a few minor adjustments to lighting and the presentation of evidence on a screen. Other jury trials are expected to take place at the auditorium in the near future.
