The Franklin County Health Department reports that as of last Friday, there were only four new cases of COVID 19 reported last week, leaving the County with only eight active cases, the lowest count since late Summer of 2021. The active case count in Douglas County has gone from over 3,000 just a few weeks ago, down to 249 as of this past Friday. Director for Infection Control and Prevention at the University of Kansas Health System, Dana Hawkinson says vaccines are still the answer:
The downward trend of COVID cases continues nation wide. Health officials attribute this to an increased awareness people have to the importance of vaccines and the continued use of sanitation and disinfectant procedures.
