Osawatomie City Utility crews began work this morning at 8:00 to remove and replace a leaking water valve at 6th Street and Pacific Avenue. This particular valve is a branch-off a major water main for the city and in order to remove the valve quickly and safely, crews must reduce pressure and volume in the major water main. This could cause connecting neighborhoods to have lower than normal water pressure for several hours today. The city has posted a map of the affected area on their Facebook Page and website.
Crews will do their best to limit the duration of possible lower than normal pressure, but the age of the leaking valve and connecting main may cause additional problems as work unfolds. Crews are prepared to handle any unexpected complications, but please know, any issues that come up might further delay the return of normal water pressure.
