A few weeks ago, Franklin County Development Council Director, Paul Bean, asked if there was anything he could do to help raise funds to provide temporary housing for the homeless at local hotels during very cold nights. He put the word out to organizations, government entities and industry in Franklin County. His goal was $20,000. Bean is proud to report that goal has been met:
Bean says Advent Health Ottawa kicked off the campaign with a $2,000 donation, that was matched by Franklin County and the City of Ottawa. Several other Ottawa organizations and businesses kicked in. The money will go to Hope House and be used exclusively for temporary housing. This year, nearly $20,000 has been spent on hotel rooms for those in need, during extreme cold.
