Child care availability, or lack thereof, has really become a crisis in the Nation and we aren’t exempt from that in Franklin County. A Regional Childcare Meeting was held recently in Paola. Representatives from four counties came together to discuss ways to respond to the crisis. Franklin County Development Council Director, Paul Bean, says Kansas only has child care spots for about 50% of those in need:
He adds that the hardest hit are toddlers, with only one opening for every 40 infants and toddlers needing care, putting a huge strain on the work force and families.
