Gasoline prices are the talk of the town of Garnett and the Anderson County Area, as well as pretty much anywhere you go. But gas and oil prices are making an affect on more than just motorists filling their tanks. Oil prices have already affected fertilizer and chemical costs for local farmers, eating into gains they made after commodity price increases. The Anderson County Review reports that Jeff McAdam, at Goeppert State Bank in Garnett, says costs have been on the minds of some of his customers for some time, even before the crisis in Ukraine. He says farm chemicals are in short supply and some farmers and ranchers are cutting back on fertilizers because they can’t make the high prices work. Gas price is also having a big impact on local school districts, law enforcement and city and county vehicles with all having to adjust budgets and travel to accommodate the increase.
