Ottawa City Commissioners have been tasked with appointing a new City Commissioner to fulfill the term of Former Commissioner, Tom Weigand, who resigned in February. There have been questions surrounding the length of that term, which expires in January of 2024. City Manager, Richard Nienstedt, straightens it out for us:
Commissioners interviewed three people Monday: Richard Jackson, John Griffin and Zach Clayton. Two more will be interviewed at next week’s meeting.
This is the second Commissioner to be appointed in the last few months. Long time Commissioner, Blake Jorgensen, resigned late last year. Emily Graves was appointed to fill his term.
