An accident early this afternoon sent a car into a building in Downtown Ottawa. A car crashed into the Cornerstone Book Store early this afternoon. Emergency crews are on the scene attempting to stabilize the building and Ottawa Fire Chief, Tim Mathias, says after that, they will begin extricating the driver from the vehicle. Mathias says he doesn’t know a lot of detail about how the crash happened or the condition of the driver.
Please be aware of emergency crews on the scene in Downtown Ottawa and please note that the northbound lanes of the 200 block of Mainstreet are blocked off until fire crews and EMS can complete the stabilization and extrication of the driver of the vehicle. Mathias has asked everyone to avoid the area if possible.
